Sometimes something good happens on Friday the 13th. Case in point: Peter Gabriel has released Flotsam and Jetsam, a collection of b-sides and rarities spanning his lengthy solo career.
The impressive 60-track collection moves chronologically and is broken into three parts. First is 1976-1985, right after Gabriel left his English rock outfit Genesis to go solo. Next up is 1986-1993, Gabriel’s golden pop era when he dropped gems like So (which includes the almighty hit, “In Your Eyes”). The third and final era, 1994-2016, features remixes of Up, capping with Gabriel’s tune “The Veil”, written for Oliver Stone’s film, Snowden.
While a majority of these deep cuts have been released on various 7-inches, CD singles, tribute albums, or soundtracks, this is the first time most of these have ever been available to stream digitally. There are a few previously unreleased gems as well, including an extended version of “Slowburn” and a full version of “Don’t Break This Rhythm”.
